Workshops

For this edition, two composition workshops are proposed:

Workshop on choral composition with Nana Forte (Slovenia)

In Nana Forte’s writing, choral music arises from a deep listening to the word and its expressive resonances. Each text is approached as a living organism, whose character, rhythmic flow, imagery and phonetic qualities are carefully explored. Her music is distinguished by a refined sensitivity to vocal colour, by the subtle interplay of the individual lines, and by the ability to shape sound spaces that are both intense and clearly structured, where emotional energy is combined with a strong sense of form. Forte has an intimate knowledge of choral practice, and this is reflected in a writing style that enhances the voice as an instrument capable of conveying nuance, tension and transparency with immediacy. In her workshop, she will invite participants to reflect on the relationship between text and music, on the balance between intuition and construction, and on the possibility of creating a contemporary language that is both sophisticated and communicative, deeply connected to the shared experience of singing.

Workshop on choral composition with Giuseppe Di Bianco (Italia)

Giuseppe Di Bianco’s writing is rooted in a profound connection with vocality, the word, and the spiritual dimension of choral sound. His musical language develops through a reflective compositional process, shaped by inner listening, continuous rethinking and a careful definition of relationships between parts, in a constant balance between structural rigour and expressive clarity. In his works, the word is never merely a support, but a generative force of the musical discourse: the text, with its semantic and phonetic strength, guides the form, breathing and colour of the composition. While fully engaged with contemporary music, his approach avoids gratuitous experimentation, instead seeking an authentic communicative depth capable of engaging both performers and audiences. In his workshop, Di Bianco will guide participants in reflecting on composition as a process of understanding, on the central role of text in choral writing, and on the possibility of combining depth, singability and evocative strength within a personal and conscious musical language.
