THEME 2025: SYNESTHESIA
Twenty Spring Festivals! Twenty springs full of scents, flavours, colours, sensations and of course sounds.
So, to celebrate this significant milestone, we decided to name the 20th edition after the happy meeting of the senses that spring awakens and music narrates and amplifies. Synesthesia, the contamination of the senses in perception, is the festival's leitmotif. The sensory approach to the world is a peculiar capacity of children and is particularly alive in artists and musicians. How many times during a choir rehearsal have we looked for a soft, heavy, dark, sweet sound, and the conductor has shown it with body posture or an arm gesture. Not to mention synaesthetic musicians, who have linked notes, chords, songs to specific colours. Sinestesia is therefore meant to be a hymn to fantasy and imagination, an invitation to preserve the natural trust in our senses, our perceptions and our intuitions, which make us unique and special.
The main objectives of the festival are training, sharing experiences and getting to know the area. The days will be spent among study workshops, concerts, meetings and new friendships with choirs and participants from all over Italy and abroad. There will also be moments of relaxation, opportunities to visit the city of Montecatini Terme, and lots of fun!At the direction of the 16 study ateliers there will be renowned Italian and foreign teachers to guarantee a high quality of the proposal addressed to the young participants and their conductors. The musical experiences offered by the festival will embrace a wide range of genres, styles, eras and cultures, culminating in exciting performances that will involve singers and audience in a choral narrative.Also planned for 2025 is the Coro Lab (2 to 5 April): a training course for conductors, teachers and musicians with face-to-face lectures in which they can expand their knowledge and a study tour to follow the ateliers up close.
Montecatini Terme has been hosting this event for many years now. A city with a strong tourist vocation, strategically located halfway between the picturesque Lucca and the splendid Florence and close to the Viareggio coastline. An important spa town, of culture, sports and tourist attractions. The Spring Festival is organised by Feniarco in collaboration with Associazione Cori della Toscana, in partnership with European Choral Association and with the support of the Ministry of Culture.
Conductors, teachers and singers are all invited to the Spring Festival 2025.
