Fosco Corti International Competition for choral conductors 2022

The city of Turin will host the second edition of this important competition for choir conductors address to participants from all over the world.
The competition is a project by Conservatorio G. Verdi of Torino, Feniarco and Associazione Cori Piemontesi in partnership with European Choral Association-Europa Cantat, with the patronage of Piedmont Region and City of Turin and in the frame of the Training Leading Voices project co-funded by EU.

Where?

Torino, Auditorium of the G. Verdi Conservatory

When?

Friday 21 October 2022
Preliminary round (in 2 stages): 18 participants

Saturday 22 October 2022
Semi-final rounds (in 2 stages): a maximum of 10 conductors will be admitted.

Sunday 23 October 2022
Final rounds (in 2 stages: rehearsal and performance): a maximum of 5 conductors will be admitted.

Who?

The competition is open to all the choir conductors born after 1st November 1982: they also must be 18 years old on the competition date. 

Jury

The international jury is made up of 5 music personalities: Frieder Bernius (Germany), Maria Goundorina (Russia), Josep Vila (Spain), Filippo Maria  Bressan (Italy) and Carlo Pavese (Italy).

Choirs

The competition foresees the involvement of five choirs at the different stages' contests.
Preliminary round: Ensemble InContrà (mixed choir), Coro Artemusica of Valperga (female choir)
Semifinal round: Coro da camera di Torino (mixed choir), Vocal group Novecento (male choir)
Final round: Slovenian Philharmonic Choir (professional mixed choir)

Prizes

First prize: € 2.000 and diploma
Second prize: € 1.500 and diploma
Third prize: € 1.000 and diploma

Special prizes:
“G. Abbà” special prize for the youngest conductor admitted to the final: € 500
Final concert Audience prize: € 500
Special prize Noël Minet Fund of the Friends of the European Choral Association: scholarship of up to € 500 for a promising young conductor to attend a training course in 2023/24

How to apply?

Entries should be sent by 31st May, 2022 at latest.
Finalists will be announced within 15th July 2022.

This event is part of the project Training Leading Voices, coordinated by Zimihc (The Netherlands), co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union and in collaboration with Europa Cantat Utrecht (The Netherlands), European Choral Association-Europa Cantat (Germany), À Coeur Joie (France), JSKD (Slovenia).
