Matteo Valbusa, a musician and teacher from Verona, specialises in choral and orchestral conducting. He works with a wide range of ensembles, teaches conducting, and collaborates with leading European choral institutions, engaging with repertoire across many different musical genres.After completing classical studies at high school, he graduated in Cultural Heritage Studies and then pursued advanced musical training, obtaining diplomas with honours in Renaissance and Baroque singing, choral conducting and orchestral conducting. He further enriched his education through masterclasses and advanced training courses in several European countries.His artistic activity ranges from Renaissance and Baroque repertoire to contemporary music, driven by a musical curiosity that allows him to move freely across stylistic boundaries.As a conductor, Valbusa collaborates with institutions such as the Fondazione Arena di Verona, Coro Lirico Veneto, Coro del Friuli Venezia Giulia and Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, as well as with specialised ensembles including Accademia dello Spirito Santo, Ensemble Il Falcone and Orchestra Interpreti Italiani.Alongside this work, he maintains an intense concert activity with the choirs he has founded or directs, including Insieme corale Ecclesia Nova, Coro maschile La Stele and Coro Marc’Antonio Ingegneri, with which he has received awards and distinctions in national and international competitions, from Arezzo to Ljubljana, and from Budapest to Vittorio Veneto.Alongside conducting, he has developed a strong commitment to teaching and musical education. He is professor of choral singing at the Conservatory “L. Campiani” in Mantua and teaches choral conducting at the Accademia Righele. He is also regularly invited to lead masterclasses, coordinate training programmes for choral conductors and serve as a jury member in choral competitions.His educational work is complemented by an ongoing commitment to cultural outreach and musical promotion. He has conceived and directed festivals and concert series such as Voce!, Dodekantus and Caecilia Virgo, and in recent years has launched initiatives including La corona musicale, a series of guided online listening sessions, and Choral Trekking, combining choral singing with the experience of nature.His artistic work is also documented through recordings released by labels and digital platforms, reflecting a musical journey that combines research, passion and openness to new artistic perspectives.
