ECA-European Choral Association Membership weekend and General Assembly

The European choral music will meet in Novi Sad European Capital of Culture 2022, hosted by the SerbianChoral Association and Tamara Petijevic. The Membership Weekend will offer a lot of options to ECA members and friends, including enough time for networking and bilateral talks, or time to sing together in theevenings. After the online project presentation that will happen online a week before our physical meetings, they will be welcomed by the city of Novi Sad in the beautiful citycentre on Thursday evening. On Friday they will discuss important topics in parallel groupsbefore being presented with the results of the Training Leading Voices project in theafternoon and a concert in the synagogue with the Belgrade State Radio Choir in theevening. As usual, they will hold their annual General Assembly for members (including indirect members and the Friends) on Saturday morning before visiting the city in the afternoon.
Novi Sad was founded in 1694 when Serbsmerchants formed a colony across the Danuberiver from the Petrovaradin Fortress, a strategicHabsburg military post between Budapest andBelgrade. The settlement was declared a "freeroyal city” by the Habsburg empress MariaTheresa in 1748, and it gained its present namesNovi Sad, Újvidék, Neusatz and Neoplanta,meaning “new plantation” in Serbian, Hungarian,German and Latin, respectively.It is a treasured regional and cultural centre thatexperienced a flourishing development in thesecond half of the 19th century.Multiculturalism has always been present in NoviSad where differences and diversities are nurturedand promoted as advantages reflecting in thearchitecture, art, folk customs, food, and all otheraspects of city life.
